Welcome to Musical Ancestries!

Musical Ancestries™ is a quarterly program designed to teach school-aged children about world music. This episode is devoted to the culture, instruments, music, and storytelling traditions of West Africa (highlighting the countries of Guinea, Mali, Benin and Ghana).

Incorporated into the Prezi presentation below are visual images, maps, audio clips, text and craft activities that students, teachers and parents can use to enhance their learning experience. In addition, the full script for the radio broadcast and an audio recording of the broadcast can be accessed through the links on this page. We would appreciate your feedback on the program and materials in our very brief survey that can be found as a button in the Prezi presentation or by clicking here. Thank you very much – all submitted information will remain private and only be used to improve Musical Ancestries™!

Musical Ancestries™ is made possible through a grant from the PNC Foundation through PNC Arts Alive, a multi-year initiative dedicated to supporting visual and performing arts.
